No wonder this unique region plays host to major sports events like the International Four Days Marches, the biggest walking event in the world, and the Seven Hills Run. Nijmegen’s surrounding countryside offers you a wealth of opportunities!
And top class players from Nijmegen feature prominently in sports such as basketball (Matrixx Magixx), ice hockey, cricket, judo, tae kwon do, gymnastics, football (NEC), athletics, kick boxing and rowing.
Sports facilities
Nijmegen offers many facilities for indoor and outdoor sports, including the football stadium ‘De Goffert’, skating 
centre Triavium, NMHC’s hockey complex and the Hazenkamp Gymnasium. The futuristic Gymnasion is a modern on-campus sports centre subsidised for students and university staff, but other visitors (companies or private persons) are very welcome too.
