Staddijk park

Park StaddijkStaddijk municipal park in the south-west of Nijmegen forms a bridge between the town and its natural surroundings. It was created between 1970 and 1980 as an extension to the newly developed Dukenburg area. It is almost as large as Goffert park.

The design shows how the landscape used to look: the bend of the River Maas and the location of the former water meadows are reflected in the water features. The plan for the park retained some of the original wooded plots. Staddijk has 30 hectares of municipal parkland, 30 hectares of nature parkland and 17 hectares of sports fields, making it ideal for all kinds of recreation, exercise and enjoyment of nature. 250 sheep were introduced in April 2002 to graze in part of the park. In some months you can see the shepherd and his flock.
