Museums and archives
If you like to visit museums, we highly recommend the Valkhof Museum and other museums in Nijmegen and surroundings.
The Valkhof Museum was designed by renowned architect Ben van Berkel and is situated at a historic location near the city wall on Kelfkensbos. Here, you can admire an outstanding collection of art and archaeological finds from the Roman era. The museum has a magnificent view of the surrounding countryside and the River Waal.
And if you would like to look up some historical data or information about your ancestors from Nijmegen, feel free to visit the municipal archives. The Regional Archives Nijmegen manages the municipal archives of the villages Beuningen, Druten, Heumen, Ubbergen, West Maas en Waal and Wijchen and the city of Nijmegen. Furthermore, the Archives possess many archives of private persons and local institutions such as churches, schools, companies and associations. If you are looking for city history (photos, videos or information) or genealogical traces, this is the right address.
