Parking your car

When you arrive at the centre of Nijmegen by car, you can choose to park your car either in one of the attended multistory (indoor) car parks, at one of the outdoor parking lots or 'on the streets'. On your way to the centre, look for the electronic signs that direct you to the locations of the car parks and mention whether they are open, closed or full.

In the town centre within the Singels-area (the St. Canisiussingel, Oranjesingel, Van Schaeck Mathonsingel) the parking rate is € 2,- per hour from Mondays to Fridays and € 2,20 on Saturdays and shopping Sundays. In most occasions the policy of Real Time Parking is applicable; you only pay the fee of the period of time in which you actually parked your car. Exceptions are the car parks Wedren/Julianaplein (outdoor) and Eiermarkt (indoor); you can only obtain day cards there.

In the other parts in and around the citycentre (outside the area St. Canisiussingel, Oranjesingel, Van Schaeck Mathonsingel) parking costs are € 1,15 per hour. It’s not possible to buy a special day ticket for parking on the street. Inhabitants of paid parking area's have to apply for a resident's parking license at the municipality. In all other neighbourhoods, parking is free.

When you park at an outdoor car park or on the street, you have to pay in advance at the ticket machine, depending on the location with your creditcard, 'chipknip' or coins. At multi-story car parks you can also pay with notes. Always bringing your creditcard and some change is the safest way for paying your parking fee!

You can pay the fee before leaving the parking area by credit card (VISA/ MasterCard), by cash card or with banknotes and coins.
